Stars of the Cincinnati Zoo

Visit this charming art installation at the Bloom Room in downtown Cincinnati. Created by local artist Marie Hamaker, Stars of the Cincinnati Zoo is bound to delight animal lovers and art lovers alike.

Marie has sculpted some of Cincinnati’s most beloved zoo creatures and placed them in a showcase of the impact of social media on zoo attendance in this month-long exhibit.

The Cincinnati Zoo has been an Ohio destination since 1875 when the doors first opened to visitors—and to the elephant that walked through town from the train station to become the zoo’s largest resident. Marie’s family has been appreciative members and joyful zoo visitors for more than a decade, enthusiastically watching it grow in-person and virtually through the zoo’s many nationwide social media campaigns.

So beloved have some of the Cincinnati Zoos residents become that they have over taken the zoos social media pages and brought thousands of new fans and visitors to the zoos doors. Marie hopes that this new surge of visitors also brings attention to the less camera ready in the zoos population of amazing animals.
